Hello People,
I have just spent several hours un-installing Norton Internet Security 2005
and re-installing the same due to getting the "Download.Trojan" virus.
I have had to do several virus scans in both "safe" & "normal" modes.
I am now virus free but am plagued with several issues.
1). When I click on "My Computer", a blank window opens up and the little
flashlight icon searches for about 40 seconds then the drives come up.

2). When I type in a web address in the ie6 URL space, it takes about 30
seconds for the web page to come up.

3). Various files when opened are not in the format I placed them in such as:
Most of my files I like to view them in "List" format and they are comming
up in "Detail" format.

There are probably other issues that I have not discovered yet.

This all came about when I was having trouble using a real estate MLS
program that requires the disabeling of "Earthlink's Pop Up Stopper" as well
as disabeling features of Norton Internet Security that use "Firewall" types
of security.

Please help as this is very frustrating. All else seems to be working fine
so I don't thing I need to do a re-format and re-install everything.

Thanks in advance

Charles

Given the nature of the problem you need to review the last few days of
the System and Application logs looking for Event Types "Error" and
"Warning. Most of these are difficult to interpret and so I suggest you
post copies here,

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Administrative Tools,
Event Viewer. When researching the meaning of the error, information
regarding Event ID, Source and Description are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;enus;308427&Product=winxp

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Double click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message(email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. This will paste the info from the Event Viewer Error Report
complete with links into the message. Make sure this is the first paste
after exiting from Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

First off, dump any toolbars you have on your computer, and remove
norton/symantec internet security/firewall. It will only cause you
problems.

I highly suggest you go through the steps on

and see if they help the situation at all.
