Performance Counter Library

Hi,

BskyB have launched a sky by broadband service. I've installed it but the
application failes to login to the server.

I queried sky and they said:

" We believe this issue is caused by one of two problems:

1. The Windows registry Performance Counter Library values have become
corrupt, or

2. Another application has manually disabled the Performance Counter Library

Due to the complexity of this issue, we recommend that you seek advice from
Microsoft Windows XP support, or a similarly qualified technical reference.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."

I can't see any errors about this in the event viewer. Anyone seen anything
like this or can help me with this?

I had the same problem, I emailed Sky and got the same response, after a bit
of research and following to the letter (and backing up the registry) I
followed the instruction at

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=300956

it states for windows2000, but it worked for me and i'm on XP

Hope that helps, if you are still tracking this.

Regards.
Paul.

have you managed to sort the problem out?

This looks very complex for someone that is not too into the complexity of
this kind of program change, any other options as I would probably end the
useful life of my machine by attempting this?
