Perfmon access on Windows 2000?

Would anyone happen to know how to grant access to perfmon (and counters) on
a Windows 2000 Server without giving the user local admin privileges? I know
this is possible on Server 2003 w/ the Performance Monitor Users group, but
this group does not exist on Windows 2000. I suspect there are registry keys
we will need to grant access to, but cannot find any tech article which
specifically relates to Windows 2000. Thank you.

As far as I know we published an article Q158438 that addressed how to do
this. However this was pulled back presumably because it either did not work
in all scenarios or had some serious sideeffects.

So my best guess would be that we don't support this.
