When I installed A new OS(XP Pro) yesterday, this was the only problem that showed up in the device manager(knock knock) Well I thought i had it taken care of until i noticed that the driver I downloaded was showing up as a third CD Rom drive instead of what it was downloaded for because i only have a DVD ROM & A CDR Drive. The driver i downloaded was from the actual motherboard site that my motherboard was manufactured and now i just don't know whats going on cause this really confused me

The modem will have a separate CD containing its drivers. It has nothing to
to do with the motherboard. If you dont have the CD that would have
originally came with the modem, you can get the modem drivers off the net.
To do this. Take the side off your pc and on the actual modem you will see
black chips, They will have model numbers printed on them etc. Write these
down and then go to www.driverguide.com and do a search using these
numbers. Make sure you select XP as your OS.
