OK, i just purchased a new firewire PCI card to use with my new digital
camcorder, i have removed an old 56k modem from a slot and replaced it with
the PCI firewire card, i was under the impression that it was plug and play
and windows would do the rest but its not done anything and don't know what
to do, tried adding new hardware but i don't THINK its in the list and i
don't have any disks or anything to install it with, can someone help please.?

Thank You

Go to Device Manager and you should see the IEEE 1394 about ten items down. If
you don't, try removing and reinstalling the card. There's no setup required.

If you click on the + in front of the IEEE 1394 line, then double click on what
comes up, you'll see whether or not it's working properly. If it is, then
there's either a cable or camera problem.

Played games with trying to get firewire work on my Toshiba Convertiable.
Finally let it set, several weeks, I sign on and BANG. There in my menu bar
is this leedle message "Your 1394 port is connected and operating".
Go figger.
Good luck....
