PCD photo files

How do I embed PCD photo files in PowerPoint 2003

Convert them to something PowerPoint understands (like (JPG, PNG, GIF, etc.)
and can embed would be my recommendation.

This takes a few moments using a batch conversion tool (like IrfanView),
will make your life easier, and make the show viewable on computers other
than your own.

If I remember correctly, the PCD filter is not a standard install with
PowerPoint, it has to be selected in a custom install. So my question would
be, once embedded, how is it stored?

If the presentation is distributed, will the recipients need the PCD filter
or does PowerPoint convert it when embedding?

Steve might know about the internal format. My guess is that PowerPoint would
convert it to PNG, if anything. I don't recall doing anything extra to install
filters. Nope, just checked. PCD is not listed as one of the optional filters.
Bottom line, I don't know the answer and don't have a sample PCD file to test
with.

PNG, probably.

The latter is what my chips are on.
Most of the conversion filters work similarly ... funnel everything down to
something PPT can swallow. That's one reason the CDR filters are so far off
the mark so often. Some stuff that Draw can say, there just aren't words for
in WMFspeak.
