pc wont start up

[roger the dodger]

when i try to start my pc it displays error wininet dll not found. desk top
wont populate. no start menu. only wallpaper. wont restart from disc. . its
completely useless.

has anyone any ideas?

Startup in safe mode

Hit F8 just before the OS loads

if you can get to safe mode,
try a sytem restore back to a date prior to the problem


If you get the machine up and running...
as a precaution you should run all the "usual" tests
such as harddrive diagnostic, RAM test, virus check etc
