My laititude d600 laptop will just sit at the screen that says windows is
shutting down if i have my pcmcia card in there. If i take it out before
shutting down it shuts down fine. None of the other laptops i have do not
have this problem. whats the problem?

here is more detail to my original post. when it says windows is shutting
down most of the times it freezes at that screen. I was wondering if it was
the port so i took a different kind of card and tried it and the computer
shuts down fine. Oh ya, another thing is when i put the card in i can shut
down the computer it was only until i installed the software that it does it.

Is the driver for the card, intended for WinXP ? Is a more recent
driver available ? Does the card function normally when you are
not trying to shut down ?

the card works fine. its a xp machine and i used the cd that came with the
card and i have used the same card on different laptops and it worked fine
useing the same drivers from the cd.
