When I'm watching a DVD movie in Media Player 11, I have to turn the volume on
the external speaker/amplifier way up to be able to hear the dialog.

But when the PC issues an event chime or notification, it's deafening.

On VolumeControl, I've got PC Speaker set to near the bottom of it's range.
CD Player is set at the top if it's range.

Can anybody explain?

You need to work with the slider named "Wave" and master to get
a comfortable sound level. Sometimes not all sliders are shown for
playback mode. You have to use the Volume Control Properties to
see which sliders are shown in the full mixer view.

Hi Pete,

All the volume controls and their interaction is confusing to say the least.
Sounds like you have to turn up the volume control on the Media Player
itself. It's not real obvious, but it's there.
