PC take a very log time to log in to the network

Windows 2000 pc's take more than 5 min to log-in. After
the initial log in screen the PC's display the following
message for more than 5 min "Applying your personal
settings" , and the it runs in the slow side.
The server is a 2000 server.

Please help!!

Try looking at your tcpip settings and hosts file. The symptoms you are receiving are the same as those reported by people infected with qhosts. Qhosts caused these delays because dns is set for an outside dns server in an attempt to hijack browser traffic. It also modified the hosts file and some IE settings.

Check the ipconfig/all from the client. Does everything point to the
server-IP? Are you using roaming profiles?
