data transfer over the network takes more time.

Hi,

One of our servers has the slow network performance problem.

below is the problem discription.

copying data over network is very slow.

1.I tried copying data of 85 MB from this server to other server it takes
more than 9 mins. Same size of data takes less than 1 min if we move between
other server.

2. I mapped afftected server D drive on other server and copied( Pulled) the
same data from the other server it took upto 5 min.


Any one has Idea on this. Why data tranfer from that server takes more time.

I have chcked phycial connectivity. changed the cable also, but no change.

Checked the auto-negotiation between server NIC and the switch? If you've
got a managed switch, look at the stats for the interface, mainly collisions
and delayed transmissions. Collisions will really slow things down and
delayed transmissions (buffering) indicates that something upstream of the
switch is holding things back and using flow-control to hold off traffic.
