Does anyone else have this problem? I start to play a game
and my notebood shuts its self off after about 5 minutes.
I'm running xp ,my note book is only 1 year old.

Are you getting an error message or just a shutdown? Take a look in Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer and click on the Application listing
in the left panel. This will reveal events on your system, including
possibly either yellow triangles with exclamation points or red circles with
what X's in them. Those can be right-clicked to see a portion of the error
and give a hint as to what is happening. Generally, the error is driver
related when the system shuts down to protect itself.

Hi,

Is it possible that the system is shutting down because it's
overheating? Check the case with your hand next time to
see if it's hotter to the touch than normal. If it is, you may
need a cleaning, or have a cooling fan which is seized.

I would also ask what game you are playing. I have seen problems like that w/ OpenGL Issues (video card), Driver issues, and I have personaly seen screen flicker, and that become unplayable on openGL games, but finally my monitor of all things shut down. I got a new monitor and everything works perfect again.. lol. re-booting games like that can be a LOT of things. including as "jimmy S." said " over heating.. but without knowing what game you are running, or anything about your system. My first thoughts tend to be DirectX version, and drivers. That may or may not be correct, but its the first thing I would look at. To be updated w/ correct drivers for motherboard, video card, sound card, and game patches. I find that solves at least 80% of game problems.
