PC restarts while ejecting USB storage device

Hi,
I have this problem while trying to remove my flash drive using the "Safely
Remove Hardware" button. After clicking it, the "Safe to remove hardware"
message was displayed and then the computer restarts suddenly.

During boot up, the system asks to scan the drives.
After booting up, it says that the system has just recovered from a serious
error. This problem started after installing some windows update. I am using
WinXP SP2.

What should I do to solve the problem?

Sounds like a driver problem. You might try a different flash drive by a
different maker to see if the same behavior happens. Also try different USB
ports especially the ones built into the motherboard. If it happens with
every flash drive then you will probably have to to an in-place install of
WinXP to fix the problem.
