don't know what the problem could be. But there is a setting that enables
or disable the pc from rebooting if there is an error. Thus it will produce
the stop error, then you would have to manually reboot your pc. This option
to disable that auto rebooting: >start > run > sysdm.cpl > advance >
startup and recovery...

There are logs avail as well that can provide you with additional
information preceeding to the error and rebooting. There is one mentioned
in the above startup and recovery tab probably called memory.dmp and there
are others via admin tools....

Hi,
i'm having problems with the full AV scan(Nav 2006).
tried to run it 4-5 times today, and each time the pc restarts,
or a blue screen shows(D1 or 24). scanning only drive D:
was completed, but scanning windows folder failed.
what seems to be the problem?

A number of times when I have seen systems restart like this, it's been as a
result of failing memory. This can be tested with memtest:

http://hcidesign.com/memtest/

if you see any failures at all, consider replacing the RAM. If there is
more than one stick of RAM in teh system, and if it can run with one RAM
modules, shut down, remove all but one stick, and restart. Repeat the
test. If it passes, shut down and swap in the next stick, till you've
identified all failing RAM. Replace those.

Thank you Patrick!!
that was indeed the problem. tested with Memtest and failed
several times. it was a *good* opportunity to upgrade the RAM
from 256Mb(DDR333) to 512Mb(DDR400).
Thanks again
