PC Protection Center

I get this sheild in my toolbar and I keep getting this pop up concerning
spyware. If I click on it the "PC Protection Center" comes up about fighting
spyware.

I have turned off everything in the MS Security area. I have no idea why
this stupid thing keeps coming up and I would really like to get rid of it.

Does anyone know what this is and how I can nuke it??

Ricky;
"PC Protection Center" is not native to Windows so it must be something a
user installed.
Look for it in Add/Remove Programs.
Perhaps it is part of a security suite you or someone else installed?

I realized that after posting. The page that comes up links to "spyfighter"
software. How lovely that an anti-spyware company would stick persistent
adware on a person's PC. I don't see that it is installed anywhere, but I
will hunt it down and kill it somehow.

Thanks.

I picked up your malware about 10 days ago. Mine was smitfraud-C with
SpyAxe.exe. Had your pop-ups and the PC Protection Center...a real fooler
here. Had flashing tool-bar icons and other junk. I found a lot of help at
Dell's community forum and downloaded all the freeware virus/spyware &
malware programs I could find on the internet, but be careful - make sure
it's a safe program!!. Got rid of most of it day before yesterday, but still
have a problem with error messages in IE. The next thing I'm going to try is
"High Jack This (HJT)" . I've run so many different programs and they all
seem to find something different!! What you have covered it self by looking
so much like Microsoft stuff.

Look for a post by David Lipman, he's got a great tool to remove it.

Don't fall for a poster asking you to email him for a fix, when you can
get it publically, and not risk your computer in the process.
