PC phone

Q:
Have you tried synchronizing your telephone and PC (making phone calls,
screening them, and receiving calls via PC and answering them via headset and
mic)? Does any application exist? What hardware do I need to have?

Note:
*I'm not talking about VOIP, just regular calls
*I've tried Phone Dialer in Windows but I can't figure how to make it
work(It just dials the phone number and that's it!! Can't even hear a dial
tone on my headset when trying to make a call )
*I have a V.90 modem and a headset with a mic on it
*I've already asked this on another forum but didn't get any decent answers

Thanks in advance.

Are you sure that your modem supports voice? Most voice/fax modems come with
software to allow you to do what you want and also fax with it. I used to
use a program calle Supervoice that worked pretty well.. Now I have a
program that came with my computer called Classic Phone Tools. If you need
software go buy a new modem for about $20 that includes a telephone/fax
program with it.

The driver of the such a modem must provide an interface between the sound
card and the modem for both input per your mike, and speakers or earphone
for output to your PC.

Another problem you may have is with the microphone. The person on the
other end may not be able to hear you very well, even if you yell. This is
an electrical impedance problem with the mike.

Yeah, I think the problem is my modem because it doesn't support voice. But,
I think V.92 models already have it. Thanks for the advice on the software,
I'll check it out.
