PC Logs on to internet by itself

My desktop Pc logs onto the internet (Dial UP) by itself and just goes to my
home page and does nothing. I'm at wits end to find out which program is
telling it to do that. Task scheduler does not have anything scheduled to do
that. Is there a way to find out which site it is going to and which program
is telling it to do so? With only one phone line, it is presently creating
problems with our phone if we don't know it logged on. There is no
consistant regularity to when it logs on.

What is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean,
what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

Have pretty much ruled out a Virus and also Spyware as I use and update
manually on a regular basis. I use Norton's System Works and Spybot. Only

Remove System Works ASAP for best results.

does this about once a week but not at the same time. Have changed all
update programs such as Nortons and Windows Updates to manual.

Spybot only picks up some stuff, not all. You need Ad-Aware SE as well
as Spywareblaster and Spywareguard (all free). From your post, it seems
you have had your computer hijacked. Do yourself a favor and follow the
advice that Malke gave you. Also, get rid of anything Norton. The Avast
or AVG anti virus programs are free and much better and less resource
hungry than Norton.
