PC turns on by itself

I have installed (not upgraded) Windows XP Home Edition on my PC after having
problems with the OEM OS not working with a new motherboard. I have dial up
internet access, and am using Outlook (not Express). Now my PC will start
itself up at different times during the day and display that I have an e-mail
message waiting. There is nothing listed in the scheduled tasks. I can't
find anything in the Help about the PC waking itself up and connecting to my
ISP to see if there is any mail there.

Anyone with any idea of how to shut this feature off, short of turning the
PC off at the power switch?

Thanks

Check in the BIOS for an option "Wake on Ring". This usually turns the PC on
which the modem "rings"

There could also be other 'Wake" on options:

Wake on LAN
Wake on (scchedule??))

Windows is NOT running when your pc is turned off. Disable wake on lan
or wake on modem in the bios to stop your pc from starting up when
turned off.
