pc hangs

can anyone help?
My pc was working fine until a few days ago. I've
downloaded new patches from windows update but that's
about all I can think of. Now a few seconds after
booting Windows XP prof just hangs. I have to press the
re-start button several times before I can any response
and then all seems to work normally.

Hi Julia,

You need to isolate what is causing the hang. It might be one of the
updates, but more likely it is something else you installed. Start by
uninstalling the recent hotfixes. This can help:
