i don't think this is
a microsoft issue since
registering and activating
that anti viral is the responsibility
of it's maker.

also, antivirals do need to update
their virus database regularly. so
if you can't even register it then
it is unlikely the virus definition
database is out dated.

what i would suggest is to
simply uninstall it since it
appears to be wasting your/our
valuable time.

there are excellent alternatives
that are free and reliable.

Perhaps the security bundle won't install on a non-activated copy of
Windows. So you have to activate your copy of Windows once its 30-day
trial is over as you were already told under your prior "my own pc
guard" thread. You can activate online if before the 30 days but
after that then you have to call the telephone number shown to you
when attempting the online activation procedure.

Could be the message is from the PC Guard security suite. You don't
make it clear as to WHAT is issuing the validation prompt. Yes, the
security suite may be provided free by your ISP but that doesn't mean
that you don't have to register to use it. My ISP gives out McAfee's
security suite for free (and it remains free as long as I remain a
customer of that ISP) but I still have to go through the registration
process at McAfee (not at my ISP and definitely not at Microsoft). If
Virgin Media from whom you are getting the security cannot do the
registration for you then you have to go to whomever bundles up
whatever is in PC Guard. As Virgin who makes the PC Guard bundle and
how to contact them.
