PC freezes after coming out of standby

I have my Power settings as such:
Power schemes: Portable/laptop (mine is a desktop)
Turn off monitor: after 15 mins
Turn off hard disks: after 20 mins
System standby: after 30 mins

Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby is checked.
Power button options:
When I press power button: Shutdown
When I press sleep button: Stand by

Hibernate is not enabled.

Anyone have any ideas how to resolve this?

The option to turn off hard disk should be 'never'. Some hard disks tend to
freeze when it's turned off in standby or hibernate but when set to never, it
should return back to your desktop correctly.
