PC Freeze on Spyware Scans

Hey All,

I've been trying to rid my PC of what I think is a spyware or virus
infection. Initially I noticed a definite increase in sluggish performance
while accessing my browser but it seemed to be consistant as I logged off or
rebooted - the time span became incredibly long. As I began scanning with
Ewido, Trend Micro, Avast! and other software, the scans froze at a certain
file. I've tried perhaps a dozen or more times. The file is in my Windows
folder and named qtfont.qfn. When I try to access the file my PC freezes.
Each time I reboot I experience no problem but can;'t seem to get past it or
access it.

Any suggestions?

Thanking you in advance,
Terry

Dump the contents of the IE Temporary Internet Folder cache (TIF)

start --> settings --> control panel --> internet options --> delete files

Open a Command Prompt.

In the Command Prompt type the following...

CHKDSK C: /F

If it replies..
"Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process.
Would you like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?
(Y/N)"

Choose - Y

type; EXIT

Reboot the PC.

A full Check Disk will want to be performed, allow it.

When it reboots, perform a defragmentation of the hard disk.

You can get to the Defragmenting program easily by executing; dfrg.msc

Start --> run ->
type; dfrg.msc
