pc and the router

The other day a wifi max was connected to my computer. I then lost my
connection to the router. I deleted the wifi max and it didn't solve
my problem. The only way I can connect to the router to go onto the
internet is with a static ip. My computer will not pick up dhcp. If i
put the network settings up for dhcp I get the ip 169.254.as an ip. I
also have a problem with the other computer going off line. I have
worked for two days doing everything I can think of. What do you think
the problem could be I need another brain to help.
