Pausing the cursor opens unwanted yellow box with translation.

How do I get the paused cursor, to stop translating the text it is paused on?
Everything I stop on gets translated into german from english.

And while we're at it.

How can I stop the useless info boxes from opening to begin with?

They are very annoying to almost everyone who has used a computer for more
than a week and I'm surprised MS doesn't seen to know how to stop this
feature from running....I guess they figure that we should all know that the
"STAART" button is the place to "Click here to begin".

Well duh!

I really want to find a solution to this feature for "Dummies".

Thanks

To disable the balloon tips, see MVP Kelly Theriot's solution, Item 11
on the left-hand side:

As for the translation, this must be something extra you have running
because I've never seen this behavior on any of my Windows machines.
Did you install any translation toolbars or third-party software?

Malke,

Thanks for the fast reply but....
It's not the baloon tips I'm trying to stop.
It's thae little yellow info boxes that pop up whenever you pause your
cursor on something.
Place your cursor on the "START" button and wait a second....that's what I'm
trying to put an end to.
That yellow box that tells you what you already know.

As for the translation thing...I found that I had checked the translation
tool in my Google Tool Bar.
So that part is corrected.

Now If I could just find an answer for the INFO boxes....

Those are called "tool tips". Here's a link explaining how to turn them
off:

Malke,
I tried that registry fix, but it didn't work either.
Maybe I am describing the problem incorrectly.

If you pause your cursor on an object, or an icon, or even the system clock,
a little yellow window pops up and explains, what it is, your cursor is
paused on.
In almost every case, this info is just redundant nonsense.

I used the example of what pops up, (Click here to begin) when you pause the
cursor on the START button, but this little yellow popup box appears no what
you pause the cursor on.

While this feature might be useful to nubies, it is just plain annoying to
everyone else.

There has to be a way to shut this feature off.

I've just gone and done that on one of my Windows systems, and you are
describing things just fine. The description of the item that pops up
is called a tool tip. I'm sorry that the registry fix did not solve
your problem. Here are many more links from a Google search using the
search term "disable tool tips XP". Maybe one of the links will help
you.

Good luck,

Malke
