patch order

I have a windows 2000 server. I have installed some patches on it. If i will
install patch, builded earlier then anothers, can i prevent from placing
newer system files?

Well yes if they are protected system files or in use at the time you "install patch." You just have to go into the registry
and under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

remove the values there and replace any files that were changed and you want to keep. Trouble is this syetm will be
unstable.
