Pasting Text to Word 2002

Hi,

I want to paste a protion of text (from a .txt text file) to a word document
and found that the alignment of the pasted text is not the same as the
original one.

For example,

in the text file, it looks like the following (i.e. the * is aligned)

* Remarks : The upload EXCEL file must be saved as Text (tab delimited)*
* for the upload file type DAT.
*
*
*

however, when pasted to word 2002, it becomes something like this

* Remarks : The upload EXCEL file must be saved as Text (tab delimited)*
* for the upload file type DAT. *
* *
*****************************************************

I've already changed the fonts to Couriier New and the alignment is still
not correct. Is there anything I can do to resolve the problem.

Thanks,
Francis

Have you tried the options in Edit>Paste Special rather than a standard
Paste?

No. The text file doesn't contains tab. I just press the space bar to have
the characters aligned in the text file and the cut and paste them into the
word document. The charaters are then not aligned.

Thanks and Regards,
Francis

Are you using a monospaced font such as Courier New? If you are using a
proportional font, such as the default Times New Roman, you can't expect to
align text using spaces; (custom) tabs are required.

I'm sure that I'm using Courier New and the text are still not aligned after
they are pasted in Word.
