Hi all,
I noticed today that when I tried to copy some text from a web page,
it would not allow me to paste it in to a new word document? When I tried,
the paste option did not appear in bold so I could not use it?
I had to open wordpad & paste my text this way, is this normal, I am
using word 2002. Merry xmas, & many thanks in advance.

Ian.

Hi, Ian.

Sounds to me like it should have worked. Your best course is to ask this
question in one of the several Microsoft Word newsgroups, rather than here
in WinXP General.

Try using Ctrl-V to paste it.

Was WORD allowed to connect to the Internet? (firewall
issue).

I used to have this problem and figured out that you have to have Word opened before you copy or it will not work. Hope this helps

Love is never having to say you're sorry.
Marriage is never having a chance to say
anything.

If you have Microsoft Works this is the problem. Microsoft Word is made a
task under Microsoft Works by a program. With this program installed Word
clears the clipboard when it is opened. There are two ways around this, one
has been mentioned and that is to copy after you open Word. The other is to
remove the program. If you remove it Word will work fine as a standalone
program but will not appear under Works. This doesn't bother me since I use
Word a lot and do not need it to be included with Works.

The program is called Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Microsoft Word. If
you go to Add/Remove Programs and remove this Word will not clear the
clipboard when it is opened and things will work normally.

Post this to a group with WORD or OFFICE in the title. Notice this
group is missing those words.
