Paste format defaults

When I paste text, XP defaults to the format of the
document that I cut or copied from. I would like it to
paste as 'unformatted text' so that it conforms to the
paste documents format. I always have to do the longer
commands of paste+special: unformatted text.

Is there a way to set paste default settings?

If it pasted different than it copied, wouldn't that then mean that the
whole copy/paste process was defective. After all, a copy should be an
"exact" copy, don't you think?
 
Well, I had never thought of it that way, but yes, that
is a good point. I would still like do a defective
paste. Any ideas anyone?
