Hello,
A friend of mine is unable to input his passwords into any sites. This
includes hotmail, ebay, internet banks etc. He types his password and when he
hits enter the asterix disappear and nothing happens, not even error
messages. He has tried system restore and other web browsers, but no joy. He
uses windows xp sp2.

If no joy, in IE go to Tools...Internet Options...Content tab, Autocomplete.
Click Clear Passwords, and uncheck the boxes above - User names and
passwords on forms.

If no joy, what version of Wininet.dll in C:\WINDOWS\system32 does your
friend have? Latest appears to be 6.0.2900.3059 if he/she is up-to-date
with Windows/Microsoft Update.
