Password shows as text... not dots!?!?

When I enter my windows password, it shows the actual text I'm entering.
When I'm on the web, any passwords show up as dots. It's when I'm entering
the windows password that the text shows. This is both the password to get
into windows and the screensaver password. Any help out thete?

I've heard of this very rarely and it has always been because of some type
of malware such as a key logger.
Is your computer virus free?
