Password protect flashdrive - any freeware?

Alvar Liddell

I've searched all the usual places and Googled away but I haven't
found what I want which is a simple way of password protecting a flash
drive. Keepass is fine for protecting my data but I want to stop
anyone using my flashdrive. Is there a program that will ask for a
password when the flashdrive is started? Similar to the password
protection in the BIOS when a computer is started.

Thanks.

Lexar has something like that for their "JumpDrive" I don't know if it
would work with other flashdirves.

I hated it. I just found it a nuicance to log on all the time.

U can try to use TrueCrypt (it is a small workaround! You can create a
cripted driver inside USB perdrive)
http://www.truecrypt.org/
or (in the same way...) Private Disk
http://www.dekart.com/

for both of these programs You have the possibility to use directly from a
USB pendrive.
Here U can find both ready to use in "portable version" (i'm sorry the site
is in italian... i'm italian!)
http://www.winpenpack.com/main/inde...oad/WinPenPack - Software portatili/Sicurezza

or you can read here english version of truecrypt portable sw.
http://www.portablefreeware.com/?c=10&sc=68&p=2

BTW in the same page try to check also:
Remora USB File Guard (would be useful for U!) and others suggested
Proggies.
