Hi, could any one tell me if there is a way for me to go straight into my
desktop, when I start up, I get a prompt for a password, incidently all I
have to do is click cancel having never stored a password on my system

Go to Start -> Run.
Copy and paste the following into the Open box:

control userpasswords2

Uncheck "Users must enter a user name and password to use this
computer". In the box that pops up enter your user name and
password (in your case leave this blank).

Start | Run, type "control userpasswords2" Start | Run, type
"control userpasswords2" Select the account you want to logon to
automatically. Then uncheck the box "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer."

Or do the same thing with TweakUI.
