At the 'Log on to Windows' screen it wants a password?
I've never had to enter a password before? My son may
have set this up to begin with but no one knows what the
password is? Do I have to throw the whole computer away?
Is there a way to get in? I have win xp professional.

.
I have looked at the
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-
US;321305
site
and the http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/lostpass.htm
site, but neither help?
You have to be able to 'get in' to do some of the things
they want you to do? I can not get by the log on screen
to get to anything!!
This has to happen to lots of other people reading thru
these messages, It looks like a total re-install of the
operating system? I loose all! just because of a dumb
signon password? doesn't anyone know of a way by this?

Did you try leaving the password blank?

Did you try starting in the Safe Mode?

Hack your password:

Another:

How to create and use a password reset disk for a computer that is not a
domain member in Windows XP

Of course, you would have had to create that diskette AHEAD of time.
