Password on slave hard drive

Hiya there
Just added a second (slave) hard drive formated to the FAT32 format to my
computer (which runs XP), formated it and all seems fine.
Because we have four computers sharing a DSL connection through a router, I
would like to make sure other users cannot access my computer. I would like
to put a password on my DRIVE (E in case someone is looking through their
'Network Places'.

What's the best way to go by this.

Unless the E drive is set up to be shared, you need to do nothing because it
will not be visible to the other user. If it is shared then under the
Sharing and Security tab select who can access this drive. Do this using the
Permissions button.

Thanks Pavel. One of the four other computers connected to the router is my
laptop. Could you walk me through the steps to access my E: drive on my
desktop via my laptop and still set it up in a way that the two other users
cannot access it?

If your user name and password are the same on the laptop as on the PC then
you do not have to do anything.

If the user name and/or password are different then go to Control Panel,
select Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Local Users and
Groups/Users. You will see few entries here such as Administrator, Guest and
your own user name here. Click on Action/New User and enter the name used on
the laptop. Now go back to the Sharing and Security of the drive and under
the Permissions, simply use the ADD button to add this user name you just
entered. Make sure to also put checkmark on the appropriate permissions that
will be shown on bottom part of this window.

There are more ways to do this but that is all for now.

My bad, I didn't mention the laptop is running Windows Me. I am not sure
whether this makes any difference.
