password issues

I was wondering if there is an applet that notifies the MAC users, that
their password is due to expire. We have increased the security policies and
have found that the MAC users have not been notified that their password
needed to be reset, so they were locked out of the 2000 AD system. Would
someone tell me how I may resolve this issue.

Thanks,

Scott

Hi Scott!

From my experience with Windows NT 4.0, the Mac users never received a
warning that their passwords would soon expire, but once a password had
expired the users received a very clear message that it had expired.

The Mac interface didn't automatically offer them the password change screen
and quite often the users weren't reading the error message to distinguish
it from a "Can't connect to server" message.

I don't remember if the Microsoft UAM forewarns you of passwords that are
about to expire, but it does offer better descriptions of problem messages
that come from the server.

And if memory serves me, the UAM will offer up the change password screen
immediately rather than the Mac user having to click through a couple of
buttons to get to the change password screen.

You can download the latest UAM for Mac OS and Mac OS X from here

Hope this helps! bill
