My Windows XP computers automatically change my MSN
password (by adding several digits), making MSN and the
internet inaccessible. The problem does not occur when I
access MSN through my Windows 98 computers. What's
happening?

Do you mean that the passwords appear to have more asterisks than they
should? If so, that is only for security, to prevent someone watching
from guessing how many letters are really in your true password. Just
use your real password and don't worry about how many "stars" show in
the box.
