Password Input Not Appearing

Nicola

I have the 2003 version. I am doing some work on someone elses site. They
have provided me with a username and password. However, when I go to 'open
site' and type in the url, I am told that the folder is not accessible and
that it might be password protected. However, I am provided with no
opportunity to enter a password. Does anyone know what might be happening?
I would really appreciate your help.

Does the site have FrontPage extensions installed and running?
You can check for installation by going to
http://www.example.com/_vti_inf.html
(replace www.example.com with the domain you are trying to open.)

If a page opens, then the extensions are installed. If a 404 error (page
not found) the the extensions are most likely not installed.
If there are no extensions, then use an FTP client (WS-FTP, Filezilla etc)
to download the site to a folder on your PC, and open that folder with
FrontPage.

Thank you, Ronx. When I type in the url you suggest, I get the following
message:

FrontPage Configuration Information

In the HTML comments, this page contains configuration information that the
FrontPage Explorer and FrontPage Editor need to communicate with the
FrontPage server extensions installed on this web server. Do not delete this
page.

The site has FP extensions installed, but they may not be working. If a
further try at logging in is unsuccessful try browsing to the site in
Internet Explorer, then use
File->Edit with FrontPage

If there is no login dialogue, then you will have to contact the host to
run a server health check on the site.
