I set up a small network of XP machines. When I try to
gain access to one of the machines from the machine in my
office, I get asked to supply a password in order to log
on to the other machine. That machine is not set up with
a password to start windows. I realize that somewhere
during the setup something must have been checked which
would require me to supply a password, but I do not know
how to access that function. I want to be able to access
that machine from my machine without having to supply a
password. Any help would be appreciated.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on the machine that you're trying to
access. That's usually all that's needed. If that doesn't solve the
problem, check these items on the machine that you're trying to
access:

1. Make sure that the Guest account is enabled for network access by
typing this command in the Start | Run box:

net user guest /active:yes

2. Make sure that there's no network password for the Guest account:

a. Click Start | Run.
b. Type "control userpasswords2" in the box and click OK:
c. Click Guest.
d. Click Reset Password.
e. Click OK without entering a new password.
