Password expiry problem

Hallo,

Our domain policy requires passwords to be changed every
30 days and this is causing a problem with our remote dial
up users. Our remote dial up users mainly use Outlook for
email, so they only dial up when they want to check email
(they dont dial up and log onto the domain at the
beginning - The laptops they use are not members of the
domain either). So when they dial up and log into Outlook
it prompts them to change their passwords but even though
all the required fields are entered (eg, mail server,
domain name, etc) it fails to change the password (just
says something like 'password cannot be changed'). The
correct DNS server address are applied on the laptops and
it still wont work. Any ideas as to why and what I can try
and do to sort it out?
Thanks
