Hi all,

My Windows 2000 Pro machine gives me a "your
password has expired" do you want to change it
window. Since I don't know what the old one was
I just say no and go on into the system and every
thing seems to work fine. What is the best way
to get rid of this error?

thanks,
charles.....

There are several answers to your question:

- To change your password:
Click Start / Run / cmd {OK}
Type this:
net user %UserName% YourNewPassword {Enter}

- To create a dependable installation:
RECORD YOUR PASSWORD IN A SAFE PLACE!

- To protect yourself against a password gone bad:
Create a second admin account now and lock its password
away in a safe place. It's the same as with your car: You
have a second set of keys, don't you? Why?

If I click on the "yes" box, will it ask me for my old password?

later.....

If you do what I suggested then it won't ask you any questions.

Well, I felt lucky, so I pressed on the yes. It popped up a window
that asked me to put in a new password with a second validation
box. It had the old password greyed out in a box. I put in a new
one and fixed the problem.

thanks for the help,
charles.....
