Partitions Question

Correction-Sorry if duplicate

I have this setup.

All are Primary partitions
All are Fat32
1 windows xp
2 windows 98se
3 Shared no operating system
4 Backup no operating system.

Windows xp sp2 recognizes fat32 with no problem.
I have tried changing partition 3 to ntfs. It did change it.
However, after a reboot windows xp sp2 could not recognize it and the
drive was not hidden by my boot manager. So what happened? (I
restored from backup)

Since I will have 98 on another computer. Here is the setup I would
like
1 windows xp-ntfs
2 backup-ntfs*

I know Nortons Ghost 2003 can write to ntfs system.

this is also posted in help & support. I put it in this groups
because of the possibility it may get canceled by a cancel bot that
is/was going around

Explain "I have tried changing partition 3 to ntfs" in detail. How did you
try to do this?

Along with Sleeples's question as well, is this only one physical
Harddrive?? Than you mentioned "another" computer with 98??? Your
listing of 1, 2, 3, 4 is a little confusing.......
Details details............... ;0)
What bootmanager are you using by the way?

Windows xp convert
System commander7.5 boot manager

1 is primary partition one with xp format as fat32
2 is primary partition two with 98se format as fat 32
3 is primary partition three with no os format as fat 32
4 is primary partition four with no os format as fat 32

What I was going to do was have two partitions
1 ntfs for windows xp
2 ntfs for backup.

However, since windows xp sp2 can not handle other primary partitions
as ntfs. I will just have to format it as fat32.

That's exactly how my main pc is set up. What sizes are we talking about?

Where did you get that idea? Anyway, a backup partition only needs to be
extended/logical type, and certainly can be NTFS.
