Generally no.
Complex programs, like WORD, are not simply self-contained within a single
directory. They also include links within the registry database. Further,
they may use comon files with other programs, store in yet another area. If
you were to cut&paste WORD and its associated directory to another
partition, it would probably stop working. And, while it is theoretically
possible to edit the registry to make it work again, it would be far simpler
to uninstall, change partitions, then re-install.
On the other hand, it is fairly easy to replace the entire hard drive with a
larger one, including coping all files, and "stretching" all partitions.
Any retail hard drive should include software to do this, or you could use
GHOST or True Image.
Finally, in case your version of WORD was pre-installed, and you did not get
an install disk, consider trying Open Office version 1.1.4, a free
alternative to MS Office, which can read/write WORD-format documents.
http://www.openoffice.org/ As a fresh installation, that could be placed
anywhere you want. Or, test it, then if you like it, un-install and
re-install elsewhere. It involves no license codes or product activation.
Note: For the moment, avoid version 1.9+, which is still in Beta testing.
