If you have an operating XP system, use Disk Management. You can delete,
create, and format partitions. If you want to remove an installation for
installing XP, just do that during the initial section of installation.
You'll have the option to delete partitions. Follow the key strokes very
carefully. But I've had to do it many many times. For simple things like
that, there is no need to purchase more software.
