Can I put more than one OS on a hard drive? Or do I have
to have a separate partition for each OS?

Your two statements viewed together imply:
hard driver = one partition
Not true.

While it is possible to have 2 operating systems occupy the same position it
is a prescription for disaster. Create a new partition and install the
second OS to it.
