Hello Friends

I have a dual boot Windows XP and Linux(Ubuntu edition). I decided to
create an extra partition using Partition Magic. Everything went well
until Partition Magic asked me to reboot for the changes.I did a reboot
and selected XP, while it was truncating and resizing my partition I
got an error and it prompted me to reboot. When I reboot and select
Windows XP(Grub menu) it reboots again and again.I hope my windows is
not messed up? I looked for my Windows XP CD but can't find it.I think
I left it at my old place. Please help and getting desperate. Thanks

You need to find out if your boot loader is damaged or if
Windows is damaged. I would remove the boot loader,
assuming that it can easily be reloaded at a later stage.
Here is how you can do it:
1. Boot the machine with a Win98 boot disk from www.bootdisk.com.
2. Run these commands:
fdisk /mbr (to remove the Grub boot loader)
fdisk (select the item that lets you set the WinXP partition to "active").

If you still cannot boot then you have to fix the problem with your WinXP
CD.
