Partial reinstall of XPE database

Well, it looks like my PC's hard drive went south on me and I'll end up
having to reinstall XPE when I get it back from IS. The only good news is
that the partition where all of my work is done (D drive) is OK, so I will
be able to get all of my critical files restored to the new drive. Since the
D drive was where my XPE database files were installed, the question I have
is whether it is possible to reinstall the XPE database server, but have it
use the existing database files instead of recreating the database from
scratch. The database of course contained not only my original XPE SP1
components, but also all of my custom components and the many QFEs that I
have installed. Yes, I can probably recreate everything since I still have
the QFE and component files in other directories, but anything that will
save me some time in what is shaping up to be a major restoration will be
welcomed.

<vent>You know, even with backing up most of my files, starting over with a
fresh O/S install is a real PITA. As a developer, I have many, many
development packages, tools, utilities, etc., etc. that all have to be
reinstalled into XP, and then I have to rediscover all the various
customizations such as workspace layouts, preference settings, and so on. I
was so frustrated when this happened this afternoon that I felt like pinning
my badge to the back of my chair and walking out the door. And maybe it's
not too late to do that! </vent>

Thanks, Andy. As I recall, at that time I was concerned about moving to a
new PC. Now I'm basically at the same point, but not voluntarily this time.
I really am getting too old to be in this business!
