I have a sagem modem which I had to uninstall recently.
The uninstall went wrong and i now have a partially
uninstalled (and unusable) modem set up in my XP
environment. When I try to re-install I am given only the
option to UNINSTALL. When I take this option, I get error
message "an installation support file could not be
installed - Catastrophic failure".

I have tried reinstalling XP (long job) but that did not
help. I have tried ininstalling from the control panel
but the same thing happens. My adsl modem (and hence my
computer) are unusable. When I contacted Tiscali (who
sold me the Sagem they receommeded that I speak to the
manufacturer of the computer. Help. How can I get rid of
this rogue modem and then reinstall it from scratch.

do a google search and tyoe the error message in the
search columb, it will then tell you to go into run and
type in regedit and give you a file path that you need to
follow to erase the software

either that or in google type uninstall modem and the
same information on regedit should appear
