Paragraph symbols in Outlook Email

When composing a message in MS Outlook 2003, a paragraph
smbol appears at the beginning of each line. when the
space bar is used, a dot appears between the words.

How can I eliminate these characters?

tools, options (while composing mail or from word) and turn them off in the
view tab. you can also click the para toolbar button in word to turn them
off in outlook.
