Panning a& zooming in PowerPoint (like the Ken Burns effects)?

I like PowerPoint for everything except that I can't pan and zoom. So many
other programs have this. If only I could combine them......Is there any way
to achieve panning and zooming (Ken Burns effects) by purchasing or otherwise
obtaining an add-in to PowerPoint?

Hi Jenny,

which version of PowerPoint do you use? In PPT 2002 and 2003 it is possible
to use pan and zoom animations and to combine them.

Kind regards,
Ute

Ute, how do I do panning? I have PP 2003. I have never seen the word "pan,"
and I can't intuit what to use to do it. Thank you very much. Jenny

Hi Jenny,

no, you will not find the word "pan", but some animations involving
movement. Try applying an animation path to your photo and combine it with
grow/shrink emphasis animation set to "with previous".

And don't expect it to work instantaneously, there'll be a lot of trial &
error involved until it works perfectly.

Kind regards,
Ute

Hi,

In addition to what Ute has pointed out, I have an example of this for
PowerPoint 2002/ 2003:

http://www.powerpointworkbench.com/html/animations.html

Look for number 4. The "Morph" bit was actually done with a Grow/Shrink
emphasis, and made to look like it changes shape. As for the "Pan" bit, it
is simply a "Path" animation. You tell the image to move along a path to the
left, and it will look like it is panning.

By the way, the photo is from Tasmania! Had a great holiday there.

Glen (and Ute and Glenna), Thank you SO MUCH! You have really helped me
tremendously. I didn't know that I could pan/zoom in PP, and now, thanks to
all of you, I can do it. I appreciate your help so much. Glen, I enjoyed the
panning of the picture in Tasmania. I am developing my first slide show for
my son Doug who, between college and medical school, went all the way from
Miami, Florida to Australia and Tasmania. He went on a 6-day hike on the
Cradle Mtn. Trail -- loved it, said it was the best trek he ever took, and
he's taken a lot of them. I will look forward to reading your tutorials, etc.

Ah. Cradle Mountain. When we were in Tasmania, they had just had record
rain. We saw waterfalls that were better than any post cards we could buy.
Then there was early snow. What a place!
