creating the pan or panning effect

This works for photos or any objects not as large as the screen display: I
created the Ken Burns panning effect by creating 4 rectangles that surround
the
photo (without borders (no line color) and either the same color as the
display background or a complementary color). I then had to insert another
rectangle to
take up the blank space where the photo goes. I made sure the photo appears
on top of this central rectangle (right click on photo, click Order: Bring
to front). Then in Custom Animation for the photo, I used the motion section.
I chose line and dragged it to make a small arrow on the photo, which points
in the opposite direction from where the pan ends up. Make sure the panning
does not take you outside the surrounding rectangles. If so, you must make
these rectangles larger to accommodate the pan. I am writing this to help
anyone who wants to create a panning effect. I want to thank John Wilson for
his rectangles suggestion for creating a Ken Burns zoom effect. To create
this effect, create the 4 rectangles surrounding your photo, click the photo,
choose Custom Animation, then entrance, then Grow/Shrink, slow, custom
percentage (150 is what I used). If you don't have a photo that fits the
entire screen display and you do not use this suggestion, your photo will
look like it is moving across the display rather than a camera panning across
it! I would rather have the latter effect.
